Venue

The conference will be held at the Grand Hyatt hotel, Union Square, San Francisco, California. Please note that there are multiple Hyatt hotels in San Francisco. We are located in downtown at Union Square. The closest airports are San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Oakland Airport (OAK). Getting to the Grand Hyatt San Francisco is easy. We recommend using the BART public transportation system.

From San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to the Grand Hyatt San Francisco
BART: SFO BART Station is located in the International Terminal. It’s a short walk from United Airlines in Terminal 3 and a slightly longer walk from Terminal 1. You can also take the free Skytrain to the BART Station. Board the Pittsburg/Bay Point train and it will stop at Powell Street Station. Use the Hallidie Plaza exit and walk four blocks north to our downtown San Francisco, CA hotel. BART runs every 15 to 20 minutes.
Cost: $8.65 one-way

From Oakland Airport (OAK) To Grand Hyatt Hotel
BART: Oakland BART Station is located across from the Terminal 1 baggage claim area and a short walk from Terminal 2. Then board a San Francisco/Daly City-bound train to Powell Station (3rd SF stop). Use the Hallidie Plaza exit and walk 4 blocks north to our hotel. BART runs every 15 to 20 minutes.
Cost: $10.05 one-way

Booking

We have reserved a block of rooms at special rates: $239 single/double, $264 triple, and $289 quad. These rates are guaranteed until June 23, 2015. Reservations can be made online. (Note that all rooms have one bed (king) or two beds (double), so the rates are based on the number of guests that will be staying in the room: even if you have four names on a single reservation, there will only be a maximum of two beds in the room and guests would then need to share a bed.)

Funding

We provide funded travel scholarships for students to attend CAV. Please apply here: Scholarship Application. For now we have funding for US based students. We are seeking additional funding for international students.

Sharing a Room

If you are interested in sharing a room and are looking for a roommate, please send a message to Temesghen Kahsai (teme.kahsai “at” west.cmu.edu) and he will try to find you a match.

Visa Information

For visa support letters, please send requests here. Those requesting a letter should allow up to one week to receive it. All requests are handled in the order they are received.
